THE VILLAGE OF FONTES
The village of Fontès is located near the Céressou volcano (207m) which dominates the Boyne valley. Fontès takes its name from “font” which in Latin as in Occitan, designates a source, a fountain. Its land, occupied since prehistoric times, was mainly highlighted by large Gallo-Roman establishments located at the foot of Ceressou (Les Pradesses, Carlencas, etc.)
The village is approximately 6 km from the A75 motorway, Adissan-Paulhan exit and 12 km from Pézenas and Clermont l'Hérault.
In less than a quarter of an hour, you can go to the restaurant or the cinema in Pézenas or Clermont-l'Hérault for example. Less than 30 minutes away is the sea (Agde, Marseillan, Sète...), the village is also less than 20 minutes from several remarkable sites including Lac du Salagou around which you can go hiking, biking or horse. You will can practice water activities, in addition to swimming; the Cirque de Mourèze; the Manufacture Royale de Villeneuvette or the town of Pézenas. A little further into the Gorges de l'Hérault are the Pont du Diable, the Grotte de Clamouse and the medieval village of Saint-Guilhem le Désert. Going back towards the Larzac plateau, passing through Clermont l'Hérault then Lodève, you can discover the Cirque de Navacelles or the Templières city of La Couvertoirade.
